Education CS Julius Ogamba Speaks On His Resignation
Ogamba’s clarification emerged hours after the Head of Government Delivery Services Peter Mbae tendered his resignation citing unresolved issues raised to the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.
Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba has dismissed allegations of his resignation from the current government position, terming the social media post claiming he had resigned as fake.
This was after a fake post circulated on social media, claiming that he had resigned due to the government’s failure to address the abduction cases in the country.
The flagged post had indicated that the Education CS submitted his resignation letter to President William Ruto.
According to the fake post, despite Ogamba’s efforts to ensure access to education for all Kenyans, the Kenya Kwanza government had purportedly failed to uphold citizens’ basic rights and dignity.
The post further depicted the CS criticising the government over abductions, disappearances, and killings, claiming that such actions had caused a lot of pain to many families.
“With a heavy heart, but with a clear conscience, I stand before you today to announce my resignation as the Cabinet Secretary for Education,” read part of the flagged post.
“As a leader, I have a responsibility to stand for what is right and to advocate for the values that underpin our Constitution—justice, equality, and the protection of human rights. When the government I serve fails to uphold these values, I must take a stand.”
While distancing himself from the fake social media post, the Education CS termed the allegations false and misleading.
He urged Kenyans to be cautious of fake X accounts purporting to represent him. “Beware of a fake X account purporting to be the Cabinet Secretary for Education,” Ogamba posted.
Ogamba’s clarification emerged hours after the Head of Government Delivery Services Peter Mbae tendered his resignation citing unresolved issues raised to the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.
