Kenya Secures Additional Sh6.4B Loan To Upgrade Outer Ring Road
It’s over one year since the upgraded Outer Ring Road was opened for use however, the traffic jams between Pipeline and Kariobangi junction has only worsened contrary to the initial of easing the problem.
With a high population that the Eastern Nairobi holds, new reports indicates that Kenya has secured a $59 million (Sh6.4 billion) loan to build special lanes for high-capacity buses connecting the Eastern Bypass to Thika Road. Nairobi is expected to have five BRT lines This the planners expect to decongest and open up the roads for a flowing run.
The loan has been facilitated by Korea’s Export-Import Bank.
Stecol Corporation a Chinese firm will also be constructing the special lanes for high capacity buses connecting Thika Road and CBD in a Sh5.6B deal recently sealed.
