Daily Nation’s Fired Denis Galava Appointed The Managing Editor At Standard Group
Denis Galava famously known as the senior editor who lost his job after publishing an opinion article criticizing Uhuru Kenyatta in 2016 has now landed a job at standard group as a managing editor.
In an internal memo seen by Kenya Insights Denis will take on the job effective from 1st October 2019. He will be tasked with leading the output desk for the daily.
Mr Galava was unceremoniously sacked from Nation after publishing an article addressing the president, Uhuru Kenyatta, adding that the country deserved better leadership from its politicians, lambasting the president’s record in office. “We reject the almost criminal resignation and negligence with which your government has responded to our national crises this past year(2015),” he wrote.
“With the exception of a few family businesses and tenderpreneurs who raked in billions of shillings – thanks largely to political patronage – everyone is losing money in this country.” continued the piece.
Nation accused the then Managing Editor for Special Projects of not not following procedure after he allegedly did not consult before publishing the article “The lack of consultation where one writer takes a strong position on such an important issue single-handedly without broad discussion and consultation is a significant departure from established procedure.” They said.
